As part of the Service Employees International Union representing thousands of healthcare workers across Massachusetts, SEIU 1911 stands for economic dignity, racial equity, and quality care for all communities.
We developed compelling video content that showcased real union members explaining why Wu’s vision aligned with their values of fair wages, healthcare access, and community empowerment. Our labor storytelling approach focused on authentic worker voices rather than traditional political messaging, helping mobilize grassroots support and demonstrate the union’s commitment to electing leaders who fight for working families.

Capturing Authentic Worker Testimony
Our primary video centered on SEIU 1911 members at Boston Medical Center and other healthcare facilities discussing why municipal leadership matters to their daily work. We filmed during shift changes when natural light filled hospital corridors, capturing conversations between nurses, technicians, and support staff about affordable housing, public transportation, and healthcare funding. The goal was showcasing the direct connection between city policy and workers’ lives. We kept our setup unobtrusive: handheld cameras, natural audio, letting healthcare workers explain in their own words why they needed a mayor who understood that when workers thrive, communities thrive.
Demonstrating Union Values In Action
The second video required showing SEIU 1911’s broader commitment to social justice beyond workplace issues. We filmed at a community organizing event in Dorchester, capturing union members volunteering for voter registration and discussing climate justice, immigrant rights, and affordable housing. The challenge was connecting their healthcare advocacy to these wider community concerns without losing the authentic energy that drives their organizing. We
focused on genuine moments: union leaders explaining how environmental racism affects patient health, healthcare workers discussing language barriers they see daily, the natural solidarity between union organizing and community advocacy.
