Yvonne Holley
When experience meets historic opportunity
Former North Carolina State Representative Yvonne Holley approached us during her groundbreaking campaign for Lieutenant Governor – a race that would make her the first Black person elected to that office in North Carolina history. With four terms representing Raleigh’s District 38 and a lifetime of breaking barriers, Holley needed content that honored both her extensive experience and the magnitude of the moment.
We created two powerful video pieces that captured her authentic leadership style and unwavering commitment to affordable living initiatives. Our political storytelling approach focused on genuine moments over campaign rhetoric, helping her connect with voters across party lines and earn nearly 49% of the vote in a challenging election cycle.

Finding strength in personal history
Our first video centered on Holley’s journey from desegregating North Carolina schools to serving in the state legislature. We filmed at her childhood school in Wake County, where morning light filtered through windows she’d walked past as one of the first Black students during integration. The setting wasn’t chosen for drama – it was chosen for truth. This was where Holley learned to build relationships across differences, a skill that would define her political career. We kept the setup simple: natural lighting, direct conversation, letting her tell the story of crossing barriers one friendship at a time.
