C&I Studios delivered Fort Lauderdale video production for a city vision film, a portrait of the city told through the places people actually use. The New River and the water taxi that runs it, parks and playgrounds, a community garden, a gallery on a quiet block, and the beach on an ordinary afternoon.
We cut two films from the work. A long form vision piece that moves from the water through the neighborhoods, and a short companion film shot on the sand.

A City Worth Slowing Down For
The brief was simple to say and hard to shoot. Show Fort Lauderdale the way people actually live in it.
So we built the film out of ordinary hours. Morning on the water, an afternoon in the park, a storefront that has just turned its sign to open.
The city carries the story. We stayed out of its way and cut it to keep moving.
Capturing the Everyday
Nothing here was staged. A boy riding his bike along the sidewalk, a family spread out on a blanket, a girl hanging off a climbing rope and grinning straight down the lens.
We shot what the neighborhood looks like at eye level in order to bring the viewer into the community.
The intention was authenticity. Not a version of the city dressed up for a camera, but the ordinary one that happens between plans.
We wanted the film to carry the feeling of home. Joy in small doses. The little things that usually go unnoticed until someone puts them on a screen.
That asks a lot of a crew on the day. You cannot schedule a girl grinning into the lens, so we paid attention to the small moments around us and stayed ready to catch them, cameras up, rolling before we were sure we needed to be.
There was real heart in getting this right. Fort Lauderdale is our home too, so portraying it accurately mattered to us more than any shot on a list.

We were not just filming a location. We were capturing the city we call home.
The water taxi crossing, the greenway, the garden on the corner, and the hour when the light goes gold were all on the schedule before anyone loaded a case.
Graded Like a Memory
The beach is not a backdrop in Fort Lauderdale. It is a large part of what the city actually is, so the companion film gives it a scene of its own.
Production shot the whole thing in one day. One stretch of sand, one group of kids, and no direction beyond letting them play.
The look was a deliberate choice. We graded it warm and soft with a vintage film aesthetic, gentle grain and faded highlights, so it reads like something remembered rather than something recorded.
That was the whole aim. Nostalgia, home, and a summer morning you feel like you have already had. The edit is where it came together, cut for rhythm and feeling rather than information, and left textless so nothing sits between you and the picture.
