Kumon
Capturing Culture in Motion
Kumon held a conference in 2012, bringing instructors from across the continent to Las Vegas for a few days of workshops, keynote talks, networking, and inspiration that ripples out to classrooms and study centers everywhere.
We were brought in to cover the conference because they knew we understood how to capture people in their element. This wasn’t just a big ballroom with rows of chairs. It was a recognition for instructors who give everything to help kids succeed. This kind of community only gets stronger when you show it the way it looks and feels in real life. So we did what we do best: capture those moments.

Two Thousand Headshots, One Portrait
What looks like one photograph is actually two thousand. We photographed every Kumon employee individually, one headshot at a time, holding the lighting, angle, and exposure consistent across each person so every face would belong in the same frame.
The real work happened in the composite. Our team placed each portrait by hand, matching scale, perspective, and shadow so two thousand separate images would read as a single, cohesive group photo instead of a collage. Skin tones were balanced, edges were blended, and the background was unified so the light felt continuous across the entire crowd.
The result holds two thousand individual likenesses in one frame: each one sharp, recognizable, and true to the person in front of the camera. It is precision work, built on relentless attention to detail and measured one face at a time.
Coverage That Keeps Up
A conference this size never sits still. Our photographers moved with it: keynote stages, breakout workshops, networking floors, and the quiet moments between sessions where the real connections happen. We shot wide to set the scene and close to catch the reactions, so nothing went undocumented.
Every frame was color-matched and retouched with a light hand, then delivered ready to use across recaps, social channels, and internal communications. Our photography team stays discreet on the floor and fast in post.

Details That Do the Talking
The story of an event lives in its details. We captured the signage, the stagecraft, the branded touches, and the expressions a schedule cannot plan for. Each image was framed to stand on its own and to sit inside the larger set.
In post, we balanced exposure, matched color across rooms and lighting conditions, and kept the retouching subtle, so the gallery feels consistent start to finish.
