Production Gear

The video production equipment C&I Studios owns rather than brokers. Cameras, glass, lighting, grip, sound, teleprompter, movement and aerial, all of it maintained in house between our Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles studios and available crewed with our team.

Camera Bodies

The package is RED heavy. Monstro VV and Komodo lead it with Epic-W, Epic Dragon, Scarlet-W Dragon and Raven alongside, plus an ARRI Alexa Mini LF and a Sony FX9 rigged in Tilta. Canon and Fujifilm bodies cover the smaller days, and Insta360 GoPro and Osmo go where a cinema camera will not.

Camera Lenses

Xeen T1.5 primes from 24 to 85, Tokina Vista primes at T1.5 and Sigma Cine zooms at a constant T2 carry most of the work, with Rokinon cine primes, an eight lens Leica R set and Canon L glass filling in around them. For a look that is harder to fake there is Soviet era Lomo, including the 40 to 162 T4.9 and the 50mm T1.2, plus a Leica Summilux and a Helios 44.

Lighting

Astera tubes and Kino Flo Celebs for soft sources. Aputure 600D and 300D when output is the problem. ARRI 300s and 1ks for tungsten, Litepanels Gemini and Astra for panels, and Quasar tubes and a Cineo Matchbox for the corners a big fixture cannot reach.

Grip Trucks

C stands, apple boxes, flags and sandbags, with silks, scrims, magic cloth and ultra bounce in every size from 4×4 up to 18×24. Add speed rail, clamps, a Hurricane haze machine and enough expendables that nobody leaves set for a hardware store.

Sound

Zoom F8 and F4 multitrack recorders running Schoeps CMC6 and Sennheiser MKH416 on K-Tek booms. Sanken COS-11D lavaliers with Zaxcom and Sennheiser G3 wireless for talent. Tentacle Sync generators keep timecode honest across every camera on set.

Drones

A DJI Inspire 1 for the bigger aerial days, with Mavic 2 and Mavic 2 Zoom for tight locations and fast setups. Recent aerial coverage has run from a boat on Tampa Bay to a dusk pass over the Miami skyline.

Tero Movi and Dolly Track

A Freefly Tero camera car takes the lens down to wheel height and moves it faster than any dolly will. Movi Pro and Movi 10 gimbals with an Armor Man rig cover the walking shots, and a doorway dolly with a Kessler slider and crane covers everything that runs on track.

Teleprompter

A Proline Plus 19 inch teleprompter with a reversing monitor, 60/40 beamsplitter glass and a 23 foot reading range. It rides on the camera rail or stands free in front of the lens, so a founder or a host reads down the barrel instead of at a script off to the side.

Computers and Monitors

SmallHD 702 and 2400 series monitors, RED Touch 7 inch panels and a Blackmagic Video Assist keep everyone honest about focus. Teradek Bolt sends picture to video village wirelessly, Nucleus M and RedRock remotes pull focus, and Comtek puts the client on a headset. For video village we roll out the Megatron, a cart with two large monitors side by side, so the director, the client and the DIT are all looking at the same picture.

Video Production Equipment at C&I Studios

C&I Studios owns the video production equipment it shoots on. The package covers cinema cameras, cine glass, lighting, grip and electric, production sound and aerial, and it is maintained in house between our Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles studios. Owning the video production equipment rather than brokering it changes what a production day looks like. The crew has already built the camera, already knows which lens is soft wide open and already knows which battery is at the end of its life, so the first hour of a shoot day is spent shooting rather than working out somebody else’s gear.

Cinema Cameras and Cine Lenses

The camera package is built around RED. The Monstro VV and Komodo lead it, with Epic-W, Epic Dragon, Scarlet-W Dragon, Raven and RED One available alongside, plus an ARRI Alexa Mini LF for productions that want the Alexa colour science. Canon and Fujifilm bodies cover documentary and smaller commercial days, and Insta360 GoPro and Osmo cameras handle rigs and positions no cinema body will fit. On glass we run Xeen T1.5 cine primes from 24mm to 85mm, Sigma Cine zooms at a constant T2, Rokinon cine primes and a set of Canon L lenses. Vintage character comes from Soviet era Lomo glass including the 40 to 162 T4.9 zoom and the 50mm T1.2, a Leica Summilux 50mm and a Helios 44.

Lighting Grip and Production Sound

Lighting runs from Astera tubes and Kino Flo Celebs through Aputure 600D and 300D units, ARRI 300s and 1ks, Litepanels Gemini and Astra panels, Quasar tubes and a Cineo Matchbox. Grip and electric travels on a three ton truck: C stands, apple boxes, flags, sandbags and a full range of silks, scrims, magic cloth and ultra bounce from 4×4 up to 18×24, with a doorway dolly, a Kessler slider and crane, and Movi Pro and Armor Man rigs for movement. Production sound is Zoom F8 and F4 multitrack recorders with Schoeps CMC6 and Sennheiser MKH416 microphones on K-Tek booms, Sanken COS-11D lavaliers, Zaxcom and Sennheiser wireless, and Tentacle Sync timecode generators. Aerial coverage runs on a DJI Inspire 1 with Mavic 2 and Mavic 2 Zoom for tighter locations. A Proline Plus 19 inch teleprompter with a reversing monitor covers scripted on camera delivery, a Freefly Tero camera car and Movi gimbals cover movement, and video village runs on SmallHD monitors with Teradek Bolt wireless video and Nucleus M lens control.

Every piece of this video production equipment goes out either crewed with a C&I team. Our video production department crews the shoot, our post production department handles edit colour and audio, and our photography team covers stills.
